REFEREES

BECOME A REFEREE

Becoming a referee is a great way to give back to the sport. Referees are responsible for upholding the high standard of lifting that the IPF is known for. It is important that you are familiar with IPF Technical Rules prior to becoming a referee.

There are multiple levels of referees. The first is Provincial level and allows referees to serve at Provincial level competitions. Next is National, then Category II International, and lastly Category I International.

The Provincial referee exam is accessible online, it is open book and you can complete it in your own time. You are also welcome to use the exam as a tool for your own learning and personal improvement and not go on to complete your registration as a referee.

Once you have completed the exam and achieved a passing mark, you can contact APA about sitting as a referee at an upcoming competition. The meet director will oversee your first session, once they are satisfied that you are a competent referee our Referee Development Officer Anna will be in touch to confirm your registration and issue you a referee badge.

You can find the Provincial Referee exam here
